Description
A hard paste wax polish — microcrystalline and polyethylene waxes in odorless mineral spirits, blended hot and whipped as it cools so it tins up soft enough to wipe on with a fingertip and hard enough to buff to real gloss. It is the family of wax museum conservation labs moved to in the late 1950s: pH neutral, acid-free, stable with age. It is a polish, not a finish — wax does not polymerize, so over lacquer, poly, shellac, oil, varnish, bare wood or plated metal it sits on top as its own layer, and strips off with mineral spirits leaving what is underneath exactly as you left it. What you get for it is depth and clarity, a slick low-drag feel on the back of a neck, and a barrier against handprints, sweat and humidity. Every brass part we make ships with a coat of it.
start clean and dry · load the applicator lightly · wipe on thin, thinner than feels right · let it haze five to fifteen minutes until the wet sheen dulls to an even haze · buff out with clean dry microfiber. The whole trick is a light coat: everything that goes wrong with a wax polish comes from putting on more than you can buff back off.
Combustible. For adult use. Use with adequate ventilation; keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Lay used rags flat to dry before disposal — do not ball them up. Keep out of reach of children. Not a food product. SDS available on request.
